Here’s a tip: If you have bits and pieces of old, abandoned or barely started web projects hanging out all over the Web, do some housecleaning before launching something new.

That’s what I’ve just done. And it feels good, lemme tell you.

Here’s what I did:

  1. Reviewed all my Web hosting and blog accounts, and decided which sites I really wanted to keep (not many!)
  2. Deleted all other sites, even some that were still pulling in a couple of dollars here and there
  3. Redirected my domain names (except for the couple of “keeper” sites) to Sedo.com for parking

This had many benefits, but the biggest one is that it cleared my mind for launching my new blogging endeavor.

I’ve cleaned out those little nags in the back of my brain that were keeping me worried, at some level, about stuff left undone … or, worse, leaking money (in hosting fees, for example).

Furthermore, I’ve vowed not to spend as much time as I used to on trying to come up with the perfect web design. Similarly with tweaking … tweaking … tweaking. And trying to plug in every bell and whistle you can put on a groaning web page.

For Banking On The Blog, I found a clean, simple design that will allow me to focus on writing and posting. And, if I decided to launch additional blogs, I plan to re-use this same basic design.

Keep it simple. Got it!
