Rob Benwell is an Internet phenom. A couple of years ago the then-20-year-old turned the affiliate marketing world upside-down when he released his Blogging To The Bank e-book.

Blogging To The Bank was a blueprint anyone could follow to create an empire of interlinked blogs to sell affiliate marketing products, such as those on Clickbank and Commission Junction.

benwell-then.jpgFollowing the release of Benwell’s book, Web marketers–including an army of newcomers–went crazy churning out marketing blog after marketing blog, mostly using free services such as Google’s Blogger.

Predictably, the Web quickly filled up with (mainly) useless spam blogs or splogs. And almost as predictably, Google began deleting blogs right and left.

Practically before anyone knew what was happening, the much-hyped blogosphere came perilously close to turning into one of the Internet’s “bad” neighborhoods–a place no one wanted to go. Or at least to gaining the reputation as such.

Benwell, of course, doesn’t deserve the blame for all of that, which likely would have happened anyway. But it’s conceivable that his wildly popular little e-book helped accelerate those negative trends in blogging.

Needless to say, the methods taught in Benwell’s first Blogging To The Bank book no longer work. If you happen to get your hands on it, take my advice: Don’t even try.

When I saw that Rob Benwell was back with another Blogging To The Bank, I snorted. I figured he had just updated a few paragraphs here and there, maybe added a so-called “black hat” tip or two, and now was trying to milk a dried-up cow for a few more splashes of moohlah in the Benwell bucket.

Was I wrong.

On a friend’s recommendation, I finally forked over for Blogging To The Bank 2.0.

This is nothing like the first version. It’s a whole new critter. In BTTB 2, Benwell outlines a realistic and honest game plan for creating a lasting income through blogging.

benwell-now.jpgCentral to this new model for income blogging is the “quaint” notion that your blogs should contain real content, and actually be useful to readers.

Now, if that’s not exactly a startling idea to you, or if it sounds like too much work, hang with me a moment. You see, Benwell has come up with some really sweet ideas on how to create blogs with real content but that require a minimum amount of sweat equity.

This is big, because real blogs have staying power. Learn how to monetize them and you can create a cash flow for yourself that just goes on and on.

Blogging To The Bank 2.0 advises on exactly how to make turn a blog into a money-making vehicle (mainly through affiliate marketing and AdSense).

This is not just your standard “slap some ads” up advice, though. Benwell gives truly ingenious suggestions for pulling serious traffic to your blog, then tells how to convert that traffic into dollars (or pounds, yen, rupees, etc.).

Dare I say it? At the ripe age of 22, Benwell seems to have matured greatly. Whereas his first BTTB product was exciting but ultimately doomed to flash-in-the-pan-ville, this new one is packed with solid techniques and ideas that should still work quite well 3 or 5 years from now.

The biggest accolade I can give is the existence of the blog you are reading now. Benwell has inspired me anew and given me confidence that yes, I too can “blog to the bank” (and bank on my blog!).

I plan to create additional blogs in the weeks and months ahead. This present blog is where I will report on the success of this project. I welcome you to check in from time to time to see how I am doing — and maybe learn a few tips and tricks to fuel your own money making forays.
